Ultrasonographer Lead-Center for Maternal & Fetal Care

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses ultrasound technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of fetal abnormalities.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Performs ultrasound procedures to include obstetrical, gynecological, interventional, and vascular studies related to Obstetrics and gynecology.

3. *Uses sterile techniques, performs sterilization of instruments and maintains documentation of instrument sterilization.

4. *Optimally demonstrates patient/fetal anatomy through proper positioning and transducer selection.

5. *Competently operates all ultrasound equipment and support systems.

6. *Utilizes patient files to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies; maintains patient confidentiality.

7. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages.

8. *Coordinates exams within the office and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with coworkers, patients, and families to assure quality patient care.

9. *Responsible for communicating any issues related to the Viewpoint and GE systems; problem solves, with GE and Viewpoint support, and issues that may arise.

10. *Cleans disinfects, and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies Practice Manager of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.

11. *Keeps work area properly supplied.

12. *Performs the day-to-day functioning of the office, including answering phones, patient scheduling, charge entry and computer entry.

13. Maintains a file of interesting cases for conference/teaching purposes.

14. Assists Practice Manager with special projects.

15. Provides and/or assists with coordination of orientation activities for new staff.

16. Conducts and/or assists with coordination of validating and revalidation of core job competencies.

17. Coordinates, develops, and revises procedures and protocols.

18. Plans, coordinates, and leads training and re-training sessions pulling in other resources when necessary.

19. Conducts and/or assists with certification preparation and monitoring.

20. Assists Practice Manager with time card review/approval.

21. Responsible for leading the supply ordering process.

22. Assists Practice Manager with staff scheduling and attendance tracking.

23. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

24. Responsible for mentoring students.

25. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

26. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduation of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program required. Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification with certification in abdomen and OB/GYN required. American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) certification desired.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
