Responsibilities

The FM Mechanical group of the Nano Surfaces Business of Bruker Corporation in Madison, WI is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to be an integral contributor in the design and development of our world leading Fluoroscopy Microscopes. As a member of the mechanical team, you will work closely with other engineering and manufacturing disciplines to design, develop and test new and custom products. This position requires the demonstration of cooperative teamwork, initiative, and innovation along with strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.



Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Design opto-mechanical and mechanical products and parts. Apply principles of mechanics, materials, and optics.
  1. Assemble, align, and test complex electro-optical systems.
  2. Assist support, service, and manufacturing team members in learning new features/products as well as identify, troubleshoot, and correct any defects.
  3. Fabricate prototypes utilizing equipment such as mills, lathes, and 3D printers.
  4. Research and identify customer issues.

ADDED CONSIDERATION:

  1. Experience in high precision instrumentation used in metrology, physics, chemistry, neuroscience, or microbiology.
  2. Domain knowledge of Fluorescence Microscopy.
  3. Proficient with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD Inventor software
  4. Strong knowledge of physics, optics, electronics, & materials.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or a Master's degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, physics or equivalent.

Knowledge or experience in microscopy, physics, chemistry, or microbiology considered a plus. Should be hard working, team oriented, bright, creative, cooperative, and exceptionally good at problem solving.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.

At Bruker, the base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $80,000.00 and $142,000.00 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge, and travel requirements for this position.
