JRAD is seeking candidates for an immediate fill. This position is in Arlington, VA.

Roles/Responsibilities:

The engineer/technician applies a broad knowledge of mechanics, chemistry, biology, electronics, and information technology in engineering systems, design, analysis, evaluation, and development of engineering and technical documentation and reports. Provides technical support in the form of research, design, development, material identification and procurement, inventory management, installation, and testing. Exercises discretion and independent judgment of a professional nature to complete engineering tasks. Serves in conjunction with engineers in the completion of assignments. Recommends changes and refinements for continuous process improvement.

  • Preference for strong technical proficiency in electronics with experience using test equipment, troubleshooting, fault isolation, and correcting equipment malfunctions.
  • Provide technical support, knowledge, and expertise as part of a cross-functional engineering team supporting Chemical, Biological, Radiological (CBR) Sensor Systems based in Arlington, VA.
  • Provide direct engineering, technical maintenance, repair, calibration, installation, and integration services of sensors and sensor systems.
  • Collaborate planned and corrective maintenance with the team and other organizations to ensure maximum system operability.
  • Participate in efforts to assess sensor and sensor system performance through ongoing reliability and availability documentation.
  • Identifies, analyzes, reports on, and corrects causes of equipment and systems failures.
  • Collaborate with other organizations in testing and integration of new prospective sensors.
  • Oversee material inventory and other resources to effectively sustain CBR sensor systems on a 24/7 basis.
  • Assists in the development of technical manuals and specifications for systems and equipment.
  • Conduct occasional briefings and presentations.
  • Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization's mission, objectives, and goals.
  • Required to maintain the ability to restore individual or groups of sensors to an operationally ready status when determined to be degraded or non-operational.
  • Equipment training will be provided via on-site training program.
  • Work may include variables of physical activity, i.e. lifting/moving up to and including 50 pounds, walking, climbing, stooping, tasks in confined spaces, etc.
  • May be required to work outdoors which may involve temperature variations, loud noises, and other physical hazards.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field and one year of related experience, Associates degree in applicable field and four years related experience, or seven years related experience.
  • Degree should be in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relatable field.
  • Non-degreed personnel must have seven years technical experience in installation modification, field change, operation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of CBR and/or electronic systems.
  • Must possess a valid State Drivers' License

Security Clearance:

  • Active Secret clearance required
