General Staff Accountant

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for monitoring and tracking banking transactions to enable timely posting of general ledger entries and completion of accurate bank reconciliations. Also responsible for assisting Accounting Manager will other general ledger journal entries for the monthly closing process relating to cash remittances, disbursements, and accrued expenses.



Key Responsibilities

  • Records banking transactions for all cash transfers.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts to reconcile to general ledger balances.
  • Perform other general ledger balance sheet account analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Assists with analysis of other accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions for recording monthly accrual of expenses.
  • Assist with annual audit requests.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Accounting Manager and Controller
  • Monthly contributions reconciliation with the Development department and other departmental cash/wires received and/or receivables.
  • Support the Finance department as needed with general accounting related tasks or assigned.



Contacts: Engage with program managers, vendors, external funders and auditors to establish a professional relationship

Education and Experience Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required or college education with emphasis on accounting and business administration curriculums.



Experience:

  • Two to four years' experience as an accountant in a not-for-profit organization preferred as well as performing related administrative accounting functions.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records



Salary and Benefits

$68,500-$75,000

Education
Bachelors of Accounting (required)
Experience
4 years: Bachelor's degree in accounting required or college education with emphasis on accounting and business administration curriculums.
Two to four years' experience as an accountant in a not-for-profit organization preferred as well as performing related administrative accounting functions.
Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records (required)
