Job Title: Senior Accountant - Loss Transactions
Location: Hybrid (Warren, NJ)
Industry: Insurance

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team, focusing on managing daily accounting activities related to loss transactions. This role is responsible for ensuring that all accounting and banking operations align with company policies, procedures, and contractual obligations within the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and certify daily loss funding transactions and accounts payable vouchers.
  • Process journal entries and assist with monthly and quarterly financial closings.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations and variance analyses for claim funding accounts.
  • Resolve funding and banking issues as they arise.
  • Develop a strong understanding of various policy and claim management systems.
  • Help organize and process quarterly accruals, reclassifications, and adjustment entries.
  • Participate in audits of Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), both financial and operational.
  • Ensure all TPA documentation and insurance certificates are up-to-date.
  • Assist with special accounting and reporting projects as needed.
  • Efficiently navigate large Excel files and perform data analysis.
  • Maintain professional relationships with TPA contacts and address compliance issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with external and internal auditors to ensure adherence to necessary controls and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and work with cross-functional teams (finance, IT, operations) to implement changes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, with a focus on reconciliation.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and experience in insurance is a must.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (5+ years), with the ability to handle complex data sets.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Quick to learn new tasks and adapt with minimal supervision.
