Job Summary
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the development and management of individual and group strength training programs for student-athletes participating in the NCAA intercollegiate athletics program under the supervision of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Responsible for program design and implementation of assigned sports, assist with remaining sports, and assist with maintaining weight room area including health and safety standards. Work closely with coaches to develop team and individual programs based on the latest strength and conditioning techniques. Work closely with the certified athletic trainers to modify training programs to accommodate student-athletes in rehabilitation.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree. One (1) year of coaching experience or two (2) years playing experience in the designated sport.

  • Master's degree in Exercise-related field

  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
  • Strength & Conditioning coaching experience; knowledge of & commitment to NCAA rules

  • SCCC certification through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association or CSCS through the National Strength and Conditioning Association
  • Experience involving the development and management of sport-specific individual and group strength training programs for a wide variety of athletes
  • Experience development and management of strength training programs at the college/university level

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary sports performance coach for select varsity sports teams
  • Develop and monitor sports performance programs for assigned teams
  • Learn and teach sports performance programs to assigned teams
  • Direct fitness testing/evaluations, computation of results, and evaluation of individual student-athletes
  • Teach proper lifting technique and assist in spotting
  • Effectively and properly motivate student-athletes
  • Communicate and collaborate with all coaching staff regarding sports performance for their teams
  • Assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in the setup and maintenance of the Varsity Weight Room and general operation of the Sports Performance program
  • Prepare the room for team training; Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the facility and its equipment
  • Maintain current certification through CSCCa (SCCC) or the NSCA (CSCS)
  • Pursue learning including continuing education (CEUs) to improve knowledge of scientific and practical applications of strength and conditioning concepts and engage in continuing professional development
  • Anticipate potential injury risks and take measures to remove them; In the event of injury, implement an emergency action plan and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Expected to work extended hours, early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays during athletic seasons. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs., travel on a bus or in vans for an extended period of time, and must be able to stand on feet outside (if applicable) for a long period of time. Must be able to work on a team, and adjust to schedules that may change.

Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record at the time of hire.

Remote Work Notice
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in-office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
