Overview

The Research Organization at Alnylam is seeking a Scientist to join our Research Analytics team. The Scientist position in Research Analytics is part of the RNAi discovery team and will contribute to the further exploration of RNAi therapeutics. The Research Analytics team focuses on growing a better understanding of the distribution and delivery, the activity, and the stability of siRNA and siRNA-conjugates using a multifaceted analytical approach.

This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

* Design in vivo and in vitro studies to understand activity, stability, and distribution of siRNAs and siRNA-conjugates. Collaborate with internal biology teams in the characterization of in vivo and in vitro samples using multiple analytical techniques. Leverage in-depth analytical characterization of novel molecules to guide new chemistry designs.
* Discover and evaluate novel analytical techniques to increase sensitivity and detection limit of siRNA therapies.
* Assist in the establishment of a modality-agnostic analytical lab to support our growth into new chemical space.
* Work closely with Early Development team to establish/optimize DMPK methods and coordinate method-transfer to relevant teams.
* Participate in cross-functional internal meetings and communicate relevant information to Research & Development.
* Communicate results with key stakeholders throughout the organization.

Qualifications

* Ph.D. (0-3 years), Masters (3-6 years) or BS (7-10 years) in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or equivalent expertise areas. Strong focus in analytical techniques preferred.
* Hands-on expertise working with and troubleshooting LCMS Instrumentation. Experience designing and optimizing LCMS methods to solve complex biological problems.
* Broad experience with multiple analytical techniques including immunoprecipitation, cell/tissue extraction, PAGE, WB, Spectroscopy, HPLC, and MS, and utilizing these techniques to answer fundamental questions.
* In-depth knowledge of and experience with oligonucleotide therapeutics (siRNA, ASO, mRNA, or gene therapy) or peptide/protein therapeutics with focus in the relevant analytics.
* Ability to work within cross-functional teams and work as a team player. Possess collaborative mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills, and attention to detail.
* Ability to recognize impactful areas of research and organize both individual and team efforts to investigate using a broad range of techniques.
