Position Summary

The role of Jr. Graphic Designer supports the Graphic Design leadership group by developing artwork, tech packs, and individual product for apparel.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the design execution of specific projects in relationship to product plans
  • Supports core design needs, tech pack builds, graphic creation and graphic executions
  • Builds prototype tech packs for program, custom, and brand partner apparel projects
  • Understands and keeps up to date on market trends and designs trend appropriate product
  • Effectively communicates with internal partners on product design needs
  • Creates prototypes sales samples and production art ready work to be replicated appropriately
  • Reviews prototype samples against tech packs for accuracy
  • Assists Designers in prototype tech pack builds for major key account design sessions
  • Understand and utilize multiple New Era project tracking and product creation (PLM) systems
  • Meets or exceeds timelines associated with Time Action Calendars (TAC)
  • Keep all sensitive matters confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in understanding limitations to the overall design production capabilities of apparel
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of the limitations to the embroidery and screen-printing process
  • Demonstrates a strong graphic ability in custom logo and wordmark design; please provide a portfolio of creative work demonstrating this
  • Demonstrates a limited knowledge of professional sports leagues and teams
  • Experience in a Mac environment with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple design projects on a daily basis while meeting established deadlines
  • Communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team player
  • Positive attitude and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Actively participate in design critiques
  • Strong ability to problem solve and identify creative solutions

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Fashion Design or Communication Arts preferred; additional experience in lieu of degree considered
  • One (1) to Three (3) years of experience in Product Design or equivalent combination or education and experience
  • Previous experience in a graphic/product design environment preferred
  • Previous experience in a soft goods embroidery/screen printing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of sportswear or apparel industry preferred
  • Portfolio provided on resume

The salary range for this posted position is $50,500 - $56,500 (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Western New York. Actual compensation is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
