Sr Application Specialist-Clinical - Epic Regulatory

Position Purpose







Under the direction of the assigned leader, this position supports the analysis, design, coding, testing and implementation of new and existing application systems used within Renown Health entities with a clinical focus. This position works with the user community to resolve operational and technical problems, application performance issues as well as support optimization and enhancement efforts. This position participates in the design, configuration, testing and supporting of files and system changes within assigned products and scope, including system administration functions. This position is required to remain current with ongoing healthcare industry advancement and IT functions. This position will serve as the primary clinical contact for external users for designated product(s), and will assist in leading large projects.









Nature and Scope







Responsibilities:

* Leads vertical customers and consensus building activities of end-users, operational leaders, physicians and designated staff for the purpose of end-user application implementation.



  • Performs advanced level design, build and implementation assignments/projects and/or re-engineering of operational workflow processes with end-user/business owner. Based on deep knowledge of application and clinical operational requirements can translate complex requirements/concepts into system specifications and configuration requirements.
  • Initiates, facilitates or leads meetings with end-user/business owner and supports work/projects in the absence of the Team Lead/Manager.
  • Participates within appropriate governance bodies to advance recommendations as necessary and attends/represents on various IT/operational related committees.
  • Provide the highest-level clinical expertise in design integration and touch points with other Epic modules or applications.
  • Serve as a clinical expert to team members, other IT personnel, and end-users/business owners as necessary.
  • Design, test, implement and support files/systems within assigned products and scope with some supervision.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work on multiple and more complex tasks with high quality results and adherence to deadlines.
  • Analyze clinical and business operations as they relate to design decisions, and prioritize and implement requested changes to the system.
  • Collect information regarding potential system enhancement needs, and analyze new functionality in releases to determine how/if it should be used, and review and test each new release.
  • Dependent on the application(s) supported this position may be required to take call.
  • Develop level of effort estimates and track actual time worked accurately.
  • Uses Clinical knowledge and experience to support high quality clinical workflow and optimized use of information technologies by clinical staff.
  • Collaborates with clinical practitioners in order to maintain continued adoption and optimization of the EMR and other clinical information systems.
  • Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to ensure the Information systems and their use are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice.



Project Management:



  • Maintain regular communication with Project Managers, vendors and customers.


Perform analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with assigned software/hardware used with some supervision.

Information Integrity:



  • Develop clear and concise clinical process flows and supporting documentation for business owners and units.
  • Adhere to application style guides, standards for naming and numbering conventions, change control, environment management, and security classifications.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Data Architecture and Integration concepts and strategies.



Teamwork, Collaboration, Professionalism, and Leadership:



  • Assist in facilitating meetings with end-users/business owners.
  • Work independently on small assigned tasks, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage workload independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to peers and assist with on-boarding processes for new employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred







Name



Description



Education:



Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor's Degree in a health, science, or business field, or an equivalent level of professional experience preferred.



Experience:



5+ years' experience working in a Healthcare setting, physician practice or hospital in a clinical role required.

3+ years in healthcare application configuration/build experience, with at least 2 year configuration/design and implementation experience in the application related to the position filled required.

Project Management experience preferred.



License(s):



Ability to obtain and maintain a Registered Nurses license from any state.



Certification(s):



Application Certification or Accreditation may be required on application(s) supporting. Must stay current on new version and obtain re-certification as applicable.



Computer / Typing:



Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
