DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Public Health Program Associate 2, you will play a key role in ensuring the success of the Department of Health by analyzing workforce data and identifying areas for improvement through training and development. This work will involve coordinating with subject matter experts to develop policies and training materials related to procurement processes. Additionally, you will help bridge the gap between the administrative and public health aspects of the department by creating policies and procedures that adhere to federal and state requirements. This includes managing and administering public health programs, with a focus on contracts and requirements while also ensuring positive health care outcomes for the community. In this position, you will be responsible for handling various tasks related to procurement and budget work. These tasks include running reports, fiscal coding, and managing purchase orders, shopping carts, and vendor contracts. It will also be essential to stay updated on the Department of Health's procurement and budget processes and procedures, as well as make recommendations for policy development and implementation. Furthermore, having knowledge of the department's organizational structure and different public health program areas will help you understand and effectively carry out your duties. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are flexible between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30- or 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Public Health Program Associate 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • A bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience in the development, analysis, or monitoring of programs, grants, or contracts in health, human services, social or behavioral services, health care services, or health insurance; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
