POSITION: Coordinator, Fitness Center
STATUS:Full time
DEPARTMENT: Natural Sciences

PLACEMENT: Grade 109
HIRING RANGE: $24.30 - $25.76 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY
Evaluates the fitness ability of those seeking the POWER testing and of new members of the Fitness Center. Supervises the maintenance of equipment, facilities, and membership rolls, and maintains the overall quality of the Fitness Center. Answers questions and provides help thereby creating a good experience for the members of the Fitness Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervise the evaluation of possible candidates for the police academy and/or Police Departments through the administration of the Police Officers Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) and provide the necessary paperwork.
2. Develop and maintain timely communications with police departments informing them of the JJC Fitness Center procedures and requirements for the POWER testing.
3. Coordinate and administer the fitness evaluation test/procedure of the fitness center members. Interpret fitness report results to the members as needed. Update and maintain evaluation test/procedures as required.
4. Supervise Fitness Center part time employees and student workers: generate work schedules for supervision of the fitness center and POWER testing.
5. Set up individual appointments and work with fitness center members to assist them with their fitness program. Develop an exercise program for members when requested. Work with a member's physician if a specific health issue needs to be addressed.
6. Inspect the fitness center daily. Consult with vendors regarding equipment maintenance and repairs.
7. Schedule equipment repairs when necessary and do preventative maintenance, when possible.
8. Daily monitor the cleanliness of the fitness center and enforce all necessary rules to ensure cleanliness. Check locker-rooms daily for cleanliness and safety and enforce locker-room rules. Maintain a list of locker rentals/assignments, collect daily use locker rental fees (quarters) and deposit in accordance with established procedures.
9. Develop a procedure to monitor membership usage and report monthly usage data to the Dean of Arts and Sciences office.
10. Monitor memberships, send reminders to members for membership renewals.
11. Enforce dress code, behavior code, safety code, and other fitness center rules. Annually review and update codes and rules as needed.
12. Post fitness center rules as directed.
13. Provide wellness information for the JJC staff, faculty, and students.
14. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Three (3) years of direct work experience in fitness center operations.
2. Qualified personal trainer.
3. Proven ability to prioritize assignments and work in a very busy, loud, fun environment; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
4. Proficiency with Windows and comfortable using computers.
5. Must be friendly, honest, outgoing individual and enjoy working with a diverse population.
6. Must be able to keep information confidential.
7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
8. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ability to design and/or edit a webpage and ability to reserve rooms and other spaces using 25 live.
2. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
3. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
