Control Systems Engineer

Position Summary:

As Control Systems Engineer, you will be supporting the NAVFAC EXWC Control System Cyber Engineering (CSCE) division located in Port Hueneme, CA.

Clearance Required:

  • Must be a US citizen with a DoD Secret security clearance



Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control systems
  • Create control features to ensure systems effectively meet the organization's quality standards
  • Troubleshoot issues with control systems
  • Review reports and test results
  • Test program operation to verify it remains functional
  • Reviews and prepares higher tier engineering documents and drawings related to the Control Systems engineering discipline.
  • Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements in the preparation of Control Systems design products.
  • Review project design criteria, vendor drawings/manuals
  • Prepare Digital Logic Diagrams and Functional Block Diagrams
  • Prepare Document Change Notices
  • Coordinates technical issues with Startup & Commissioning and provides assistance to Construction in the field.
  • Contributes to maintaining the project's instrument database using automated tools and has knowledge of the applicability of information to be populated in the instrument database.


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in control systems engineering or related field.
  • Must have at a minimum IAT lvl 2 compliant certification
  • Experience with Job Control Language (JCL)
  • Experience with Matlab
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
