Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Food Safety and Quality Technologist to join our Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) team. The Supplier Quality Technologist will play a key part in supporting the SQA team through managing supplier documentation, analyzing data, addressing non-conformances, and updating procedures. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of quality management systems, excellent communication skills, and a strong aptitude for data analysis.

Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Assist supplier quality team to ensure the programs meet all FDA, USDA, customers', and SunOpta's requirements
  • Assist with management and collection of supporting documents for SunOpta's package claims and product certification (organic, kosher, etc.) from active suppliers leveraging the TraceGains system.
  • Obtain, upload, update and organize supplier related documents within the quality management system software used by SunOpta
  • Monitor and update ingredient, packaging, and supplier data within the specification system and quality management systems
  • Assist in yearly and bi-annual supplier performance analysis
  • Generate reports for SQA Key Performance Indicators (KPI) measures
  • Perform data entry and data analysis requests as needed
  • Assist in the review and update of standard operating procedures utilized by Supplier Quality team and manufacturing plants
  • Follow company GMP's (good manufacturing practices), safety procedures and all other quality processes
  • All other duties as assigned



Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • None.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, or related technical field.
  • Six months to two-years food industry and/or food safety & quality experience (internship/s or equivalent training/education acceptable).



Preferred Qualifications:



  • PCQI certification.
  • Experience with specification and quality management systems (i.e. DevEx, TraceGains, FoodLogiQ, etc.).



Knowledge and Skills:



  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and quality management software.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, quality systems (HACCP, SQF, BRC), and industry standards.
  • Accurate and proficiency with data maintenance and data entry.
  • Self-directed, intellectually curious, and results driven.



Additional Considerations:



  • The role will be located at the SunOpta Corporate Office in Eden Prairie, MN.
  • Travel Expectation: Up to 10% to suppliers and/or manufacturing sites.
  • Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
