Occupational Therapist (OT) - Mental Health

Position Summary

Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Rehab Therapy Services Psychiatry Team. The OT works under the supervision of the Team Coordinator and/or Clinical Specialist and is guided by the leadership of the Rehab Therapy Services Team Leader and/or Inpatient or Outpatient Manager. In this role, the OT assesses patients' occupational limitations and medical conditions using objective evaluation techniques. They prescribe and implement treatment programs designed to help patients achieve their maximum level of function.

Collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team is essential to maximize patient and team outcomes. The OT will actively promote service improvements and contribute to enhancing department and hospital systems to advance patient care. They are expected to integrate the goals and objectives of Johns Hopkins Hospital into their daily practice.



Education:

Candidates must have completed a Bachelor of Science, Master's Degree, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited academic program.



Knowledge:

The position requires a solid understanding of social, behavioral, biological, and physical sciences, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy foundations, theories, evaluation and treatment techniques, and leadership practices. Familiarity with the current healthcare environment is essential, along with the annual completion of departmental and service competency learning materials.



Skills:

Candidates must demonstrate advanced communication and interpersonal skills appropriate for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members across diverse age groups. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and documentation for clinical decision-making is required, along with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in clinical practice effectively.



Licensure and Certification:

Applicants must hold current licensure from the State of Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners and possess valid AHA Health Care Provider CPR certification.



Work Experience:

Successful completion of clinical internships required by the academic program is necessary.

Salary Range: Minimum 35.93 per hour - Maximum 59.32 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
