About This Role

Are you passionate about program development, event coordination, and making an impact in higher education? The KAWSE (Kansas Association for Women in Science and Engineering) team is seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as the Program/Project Manager. This role is instrumental in supporting students, faculty, and the community through innovative programming, collaborative events, and strategic initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

Program and Event Coordination (45%)



  • Collaborate with faculty, campus resources, and community partners to design and execute impactful programs and events.
  • Coordinate logistics, confirm reservations, gather materials, and oversee event implementation.
  • Maintain participant databases and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Lead signature programs, including GROW, EXCITE, SUCCEED, ADVANCE, and undergraduate research symposia.


Program Administration (20%)



  • Manage the development, implementation, and administration of KAWSE programming in collaboration with the faculty program director.
  • Evaluate program outcomes, develop improvement strategies, and implement policies and procedures.
  • Oversee budget management, ensuring resources align with program goals and financial policies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, supporting department strategies and leadership initiatives.


Community Outreach (10%)



  • Identify outreach opportunities to promote KAWSE programs and participate in community events.
  • Develop marketing strategies and create presentations to engage diverse audiences.
  • Represent KAWSE at university and community events, contributing to broader institutional goals of access and opportunity.


Constituent Communication (10%)



  • Manage external relations, publicity, and participant communications.
  • Propose and implement innovative ideas to support student success and retention.


Supervision (15%)



  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of full-time staff, undergraduate and graduate student workers, and event mentors.
  • Coordinate staff schedules and manage performance expectations.

The K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering is a part of the Office of Access and Opportunity and works to increase the participation, retention and advancement of girls and women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The office serves as home of the ADVANCE, SUCCEED, EXCITE! and GROW programs. These programs are open to all genders, and emphasize the exciting educational and professional opportunities available in the various STEM disciplines.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree and/ or Doctorate degree
  • 5-10 years relevant experience
  • Experience working with K-12 Students, University students and/or faculty members
  • Supervision Experience
  • Budget experience
  • Well organized and self sufficient
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Software
