Job Summary

Assists in the development and evolution of the overall strategy for medical records completion and for assuring records are accurately scanned and available for review within 24 to 48 hours of discharge. Responsibilities include management of all processes and personnel in this area 24/7.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in the development and evolution of the overall strategy for medical records completion; and for assuring records are accurately scanned and available for review within 24 to 48 hours of discharge.
  • Manages all processes and personnel in this area 24/7.
  • Coordinates work schedules for the Records Management Area to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime.
  • Maintains a measure of productivity and quality standards for each employee and shares this information with each employee on a monthly basis.
  • Ensures all P&Ps are written for each area of responsibility. Reviews and updates P&Ps at least annually.
  • Assures turn-around-time in the department meets or exceeds standards of 24 hours at least 90% of the time throughout the year.
  • Works all queues routinely to ensure backlog does not accrue and ensures others are trained to work queues efficiently.
  • Works with Leadership to assure all records are entered into the Corporate computerized system and mailed to Connolly timely.

Physical Requirements

Required reaching, stretching and bending to obtain medical records. Ability to concentrate while sitting for extended periods of time. Daily and weekly deadlines must be met in a fast paced office environment. Must be able to view documentation on the computer screen for extended periods of time. Capable of dealing with numerous interruptions throughout the day.

Education, Experience and Certifications

High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree with RHIA or RHIT credential preferred. Supervisory experience preferred or three years experience in a medical records department. Electronic record experience a plus.
