Under the direct supervision of the Chief Counsel and Assistant Chief Counsels, the Attorney advises the Board of Parole Hearings (BPH) and its employees on all legal matters affecting policies and operations. The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to realtime updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application's progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement. Working Conditions The BPH headquarters office is in Sacramento. Currently, BPH Attorneys telework. For this position, you must live and work in California. On occasion, travel may be necessary to BPH Headquarters, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) headquarters locations (also in the Greater Sacramento area), CDCR institutions, or other locations in California. Employees are expected to maintain normal and consistent work hours, averaging 40 hours per week. Work in excess of 40 hours per week is expected, when necessary, to complete assignments in a timely manner. The BPH Legal Division strives for work life balance and these positions include substantial vacation and holiday time. The position(s) is eligible for hybrid telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and will be required to report to the office as needed/required.
