CNC Programmer, Sr./Machinist

The CNC Programmer, Sr./Machinist is responsible for managing and leading the engineering and programming, editing, and setting up all types of numerical controlled Lathe, 5 Axis Mills, 4 Axis Horizontal Mills and Mill/Turn machines. DAY SHIFT position Monday - Friday with flexible start times of 5 am or 6 am and an opportunity to work additional hours on a voluntary basis. Competitive pay with bonus opportunity.

Job Core Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for programming 2 axis lathes; 3, and 4 axis horizontal and vertical mills, Mori Seiki 9 axis 2 spindle mill/turn with B axis rotary tool spindle, as well as Mori Seiki 5 axis mill
    • Writes instructions and technical specifications for machinists.
    • Determines mathematical calculations for programming including where materials should be cut
    • Translates instructions into a computer automated manufacturing (CAM) program.
    • Writes programs and modifies existing ones for increased efficiency.
    • Analyzes and selects speeds and cutting tools for programs.
    • Makes improvements to set up times for a task and contouring of complex shapes.
    • Evaluates all completed designs to validate their functions and ensure they successfully reduce time and increase efficiency.
  2. Plans machining and stock inventory by studying work orders, engineering plans, material, specifications, anticipating needed stock and verifying drawing requirements. Interface directly with scheduling and estimating departments to determine overall time and costs of specific product lines.
  3. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  4. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
    • Develop fixture design and processes for production of parts.
  5. Leads the machining group as a team lead.
  6. Troubleshoot NC Programs to ensure continuity of product flow.

Job Specifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Education Level: Associate degree preferred or equivalent education and work experience.
- Field of Study/Area of Experience (Machine Tool Technology
4-6 Years of experience in CNC machines
