OUC - The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the OU.DIVISION.

We are looking for a Computer Specialist Intern - Summer 2025. During the internship, you will:

  • Provide local and remote desktop support to all end-users at assigned customer sites
  • Respond to all service requests and efficiently complete all tickets assigned through any applicable ticketing systems
  • Deploy, re-image, and repair all computer hardware to meet customer needs
  • Provide upgrades for all operating systems and assist in server support for assigned, customer sites
  • Troubleshoot all network and wireless connectivity issues for the customer
  • Research and provide guidance to customers on virus/malware threats and mitigation efforts
  • Review networks for security vulnerabilities and report findings to management
  • Update Active Directory and support users' customer networks
  • Assist in positive Client Relationship Management (CRM) by efficiently and effectively solving customer technical issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Internship Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in a degree seeking program.
  • Academic status of Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Program of study: Computer Science, Information Systems & Technology
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to commit to a full-time schedule between May 19, 2025 through August 15, 2025

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Working knowledge of all, but not limited to the following: computer electronics including circuit boards, processors, chips, electric equipment, computer hardware and software, and plotter printers
  • Ability to handle customer requests (i.e. - diagnosing problems, customer service orientation, troubleshooting, problem solving, etc.)
  • Knowledge of public safety and security including relevant equipment policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
  • Familiarity with all, but not limited MS Office 2013, AnyConnect, Citrix, Remote Desktop, LiteShow
  • Strong time management skills
  • Effective interpersonal and active listening skills
  • Ability to effectively solve problems
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.)

Compensation: $16.75 - $20.00 per hour, varies depending the education level

Schedule: Full-Time (up to 40 hours per week) - Onsite
