JOB SPECIFICS

Washington County is currently hiring for Guest Services Attendants (Seasonal). This is a semi-skilled position under limited supervision, responsible for operation of Park Offices, the Historic Courthouse and/or Lake Elmo Park Concession Stand.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 16 years of age
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous work experience with Washington County Parks
  • Work experience operating credit card machine, cash drawer, concession equipment, telephone, and computer
  • Work experience providing customer service
  • Work experience with camper registration, concession sales, selling vehicle permits, advising park visitors of regulations, cash management, bank deposits, making reservations, giving directions, and light housekeeping
SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

HOURS / DAYS: 24 to 40 hours per week, days and locations vary. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.

LOCATIONS: Historic Courthouse, Lake Elmo Park Reserve, St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park, Big Marine Park Reserve

RATE OF PAY: $16.36 - $17.62 per hour

JOB SUMMARY

This is a semi-skilled position under limited supervision, responsible for operation of Park Offices, the Historic Courthouse and/or Lake Elmo Park Concession Stand.


EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 16 years of age and have the ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions. Must have own means of transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated ability to perform accurate data entry.

Offers of employment will be contingent upon successfully passing a criminal history background check prior to beginning employment with Washington County.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet visitors and provide park/site and facility information;
  • Advise visitors of County policies, rules and regulations;
  • Check-in campers and rental clients, sell vehicle permits, merchandise and concession items;
  • Follow prescribed cash handling and daily record keeping procedures;
  • Assist in completing forms, reports, sorting checks and cash, preparing bank deposits, and maintaining accurate records;
  • Monitor supply inventory including concessions, restroom and office supplies to ensure uninterrupted guest services;
  • Receive phone calls, answer user inquiries, provide facility tours, take messages, and execute facility, camping and pavilion reservations;
  • Perform light cleaning duties inside and outside of the park office, gatehouse, Historic Courthouse and/or Lake Elmo Park concession stand;
  • Execute end-of-day activities including cleaning, supply inventory, closing and locking facilities, and other post-event activities as assigned;
  • Perform random park surveys and use counts and assist with county-sponsored events, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed 90% inside, 10% outside. Work performed outside involves exposure to seasonal elements including heat, wind, humidity, sand, rain and cold water. Equipment used may include but is not limited to: office printer/scanner/fax, adding machine, computer, cash drawer or register, cleaning equipment and solutions, keyboard, telephone, and two-way radio. Duties include occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs., stooping, reaching, handling and communicating with customers. Additional physical/mental requirements may not be listed above, but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
