Primary Purpose of Department
The mission of the Office of Assessment and Accreditation is to supports the assessment, planning, accreditation and professional development needs of the University community and higher education communities around the state. This Office has four functional areas: 1) assist academic and administrative departments in planning, improving key processes and assessing performance; 2) provide support to decision makers for translating planning, outcomes, and survey analyses into strategic plans; 3) oversee and monitor the implementation, evaluation, and management of divisional effectiveness activities and institutional accreditation compliance; and 4) support assessment activities and promote the use of results for quality enhancement.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Program Review and Planning has primary responsibility to 1) facilitate the internal program review process, 2) consult with academic and educational support units on sound strategic and operational plans, and 3) provide leadership and direction in the design, coordination, and maintenance of co-curricular programs with student learning outcomes. In addition, this position will provide educational opportunities about the use of results for continuous improvement.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
The Director of Strategic Planning and Assessment will provide leadership and consultation for strategic planning, assessment efforts. The Director will be responsible for supporting the development and review of strategic plans and its achievement, and the use of those results for continuous improvement. The Director will also be responsible for assisting departments and units in the organization, administration, and review of program quality and viability self-studies. Furthermore, the Director will monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Division of Academic Affairs, Colleges, Units, and Departments in meeting its goals and objectives. Specifically, the Director will write narratives and identify documentation for reaffirmation narrative 7.1 (Institutional planning), 7.3 (Administrative effectiveness) and 8.2.c (Student outcomes: academic and student services) and provide editorial support to those preparing other narratives.
Minimum Education/Experience
A master's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Also required is a minimum of three years of full-time experience at an institution of higher education facilitating program reviews, strategic planning, and learning outcomes assessment.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
A doctorate is preferred.

Experience:

  • Engagement in the design, evaluation, and assessment of program performance.
  • Engagement in working with faculty and staff to promote effective strategic planning and assessment practices.
  • Engagement in working with faculty and staff in the evaluation and assessment of co-curricular programs.
  • Engagement in teaching and/or facilitating workshops about program review, strategic planning, and/or assessment.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the value and importance of sound program review, strategic planning, and assessment processes and practices.
  • Experience leading teams, task forces, or committees.
  • Ability to translate data into usable information and transform it into formats that are consumable for decision-making purposes.
