HJF is seeking a Study Coordinator I to support the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS), which is affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU). Provides research and administrative support to the Director of the Center and senior scientists, and collaborates with others on the development and management of scientific projects.

This position will be in support of the Department of Psychiatry / Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress.

The Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS) is one of the nation's oldest and most highly regarded, academic-based organizations dedicated to advancing trauma-informed knowledge, leadership and methodologies. The Center's work addresses a wide scope of trauma exposure from the consequences of combat, operations other than war, terrorism, natural and humanmade disasters, and public health threats as well as risk and protective factors associated with suicidal behaviors. CSTS is a part of our nation's federal medical school, Uniformed Services University (USU), and its Department of Psychiatry. These affiliations represent the Center's history, mission and future directions as a major contributor to our country's understanding of the impact of trauma and the advancement of trauma-informed care. The Department has active research programs in the Basic and Clinical Sciences and Neurosciences. In addition to intramural research projects, the Department maintains active research funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Science Foundation, the Department of the Army and the Department of the Air Force. The department has ongoing collaborations with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, is sponsor of the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress and provides psychiatry residency training through its affiliations with Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, National Naval Medical Center and Malcolm Grow Air Force Medical Center and the National Capital Area Graduate Medical Education Consortium.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


Responsibilities

Scientific

  • Involvment in multiple research projects.
  • Participates in data collection for research projects, including travel to study sites.
  • Identifies, collects, and organizes reports, professional papers, data, and other information relevant to research projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols.
  • Maintains clear and accurate project records, inventories and logbooks.
  • Performs data entry for research projects and maintains databases.
  • Provides basic data analysis and interpretation.

Administrative

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining schedule and documents for the Director of CSTS. Acts as a liaison between Director and Center scientists and other institutions in organizing schedule and Center events.
  • Assists Scientific Director and Executive Officer of CSTS in monitoring Center needs and functioning.
  • Attends Directors' Meetings, keeps Minutes and other tracking documents for the Board, and functions as a point of contact for meetings.
  • Responsible for processing and monitoring progress of IRB submissions for Army STARRS.
  • Develops and presents weekly report for the Defense Centers of Excellence (DCoE) identifying significant CSTS activities.
  • Represents Director at USU lectures, and reviews relevant information with Director.
  • Assists in developing and organizing training seminars for the Center.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Science discipline, Neuroscience, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of work-related computer programs (e.g., Excel, EndNote, Google suite, including Google Drive, Meet, etc.)
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Good written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, thorough, and reliable
  • Ability to meet deadlines of projects
  • Ability to facilitate communication among supervisors, peers, and supervisees.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a clinic setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $50,000-$57,000/year. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
