Non-Invasive Cardiac and Vascular Services Assistant Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Supervises resources and delegates as appropriate to optimize achievement of department goals objectives. Assists in the operations management of the area. Promotes retention of staff through recognition and promotion of teamwork within and across shifts. Supports and encourages the professional development of staff. Ensures optimal patient care and procedural standards through daily rounding and interactions with team members. Supports and facilitates a collaborative relationship between medical staff and hospital staff.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Partners with the department manager in the development and implementation of the operations budget; includes reporting and analyzing operational variances.

3. *Assists in concurrent and retrospective resolution of patient, family and/or physician concerns and complaints.

4. Utilizes the findings from quality improvement efforts (including HCAHPS/NRC and physician partnership survey scores) to enhance patient care, customer satisfaction (physicians and patients/families), and cost-effectiveness of services.

5. Maintains, develops and revises procedures and policies.

6. Supervises the departments quality improvement plan as required.

7. *Maintains activities keeping staff and physicians current for ongoing Joint Commission, IAC, and DHHS requirements.

8. *Designs staff work schedules; assigns duties to staff to maintain quality patient care, patient flow and to ensure appropriate coverage in all areas served for efficient delivery of patient care; plays a key role in adhering to the staffing plan.

9. *Reviews area activity and monitors staffing levels on a shift basis to ensure both quality patient care and cost effectiveness.

10. Works collaboratively with manager to ensure appropriate equipment function, equipment availability and efficient supply usage and charging; maintains a supply and equipment inventory that meets patient care needs.

11. *Participates with manager in the process of interviewing and hiring of staff for the unit/area assigned; promotes the recognition and retention of staff.

12. *Ensures staff competence while emphasizing staff retention strategies through coaching and individual development.

13. *Ensures that existing policies and procedures are adhered to during daily interactions with staff.

14. *Clearly defines, delegates and ensures completion of assignments to be accomplished throughout the shift; provides feedback in a timely manner to staff.

15. *Works collaboratively with other leaders resolve issues related to staffing, patient care, physician and family concerns.

16. *Partners with department manager in communicating and implementing department changes and initiatives.

17. *Supports and facilitates new employee orientation, student programs, and communicates education and/or competency needs of staff to the department manager.

18. *Keeps the department manager informed of day-to-day operational needs/issues.

19. *Timely, objectively and constructively coaches staff as appropriate when practice and/or safety issues are observed or reported; communicates with manager if a colleague fails to respond to proper guidance or adhere to standards expected for quality care.

20. *Assists in providing direct patient care during times of peak volume or high staffing demand.

21. Works collaboratively with the department manager to ensure meaningful leader rounding is completed.

22. Maintains accountability for all team members, including coaching, issuing corrective action, and annual performance evaluations.

23. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

24. *Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

25. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Maintains clinical competency as required for position including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient's growth and development needs.

2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

3. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field required; or currently seeking degree completion within four (4) years will be considered. Technical registry/Associate's degree in relevant cardiovascular field preferred. Prior leadership experience with department coordinating and team scheduling preferred. Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in one of the following fields required: Cardiovascular Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Electrocardiography (Holter/Event recording, cardiac stress testing).

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Credentialed in one of the following clinical specialties:

a. Adult Cardiac Sonography: RDCS-AE (ARDMS) -or- RCS (CCI)

b. Vascular Technology: RVT (ARDMS) -or- RVS (CCI)

c. Nuclear Medicine: CNMT (ARRT)

d. In lieue of a formal registry credential, equivalent training and experience in Electrocardiography (ECG) and Cardiac Stress Testing may be considered.

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)

(DOT) - Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
