The Gonzalez Lab at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a responsible and reliable Animal Caretaker to join our research team. The Gonzalez lab focuses on identifying the fundamental mechanism by which neurons process information and control behavior in mice and songbirds. For more information visit www.gonzalez-lab.com About the Animal Caretaker Role: If you love birds and enjoy taking care of small animals, then this could be the perfect part time role for you! Handling and caring for our songbirds is the central role of this position. In this role, you will observe the birds and report any change in behavior or health. You will move their cages on a cart for them to be cleaned along with wiping down the walls and cages. Birds are most comfortable in warm humid environments, and you must be able to work in this environment for long periods of time, with short breaks in between. You must also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and completing your task on time and reliably. This role is a Part time 8 to 16 hour per week position that is flexible on which the days and times between 7am to 7pm. What we provide:
Physical Requirements: Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. Compensation Range $19.33 (minimum) - $24.18 (midpoint) - $31.44 (maximum)Pay Type: HourlyHHMI's salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers.
