Mental Health Clinician

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges, providing essential care and assistance in a therapeutic environment. This position requires a strong commitment to promoting mental well-being and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.

Responsibilities



  • Assist in the implementation of treatment plans under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals.
  • Monitor patient behavior and report any changes or concerns to the clinical team.
  • Provide support during therapy sessions, including case management and chronic pain counseling.
  • Facilitate group activities and therapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including documentation of progress and any incidents as per ICD-9 guidelines.
  • Engage with patients in a supportive manner, utilizing techniques such as inhale therapy when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop effective treatment strategies for individuals with disabilities or autism.
  • Conduct research on best practices in mental health care and contribute to ongoing staff training initiatives.


Skills



  • Strong understanding of case management principles and therapeutic techniques.
  • Experience or knowledge in chronic pain counseling and psychopharmacology is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Christian counseling approaches is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse needs, including those with disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and team members.
  • Strong observational skills to assess patient behavior and emotional states accurately.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.


Education Requirement:

Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field. New York State License in Social Work, License in Mental Health Counseling, or licensure in Psychology.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:



  • Preference given to those applicants with experience conducting both assessment and treatment with adults with behavioral problems, substance use histories, and severe mental illness.
  • Preference will also be given to applicants with inpatient or related experience.
