Reinsurance Claim Specialist Job Description Job Family Grouping: Reinsurance Claims Job Family: Claims The Reinsurance Claims Specialist is a key contributor to the reinsurance team at AXIS.

Working in a globalized customer focused, professional reinsurance claims organization, you will support the department goals of providing best in class internal and external client servicing through efficient and effective reinsurance claims handling and excellent customer service.

The reinsurance claims specialist is diligent in reviewing reinsurance claims against our treaties to protect the assets of AXIS and ensure we are paying all valid claims as quickly and efficiently as possible, while maintaining accurate records and high service standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, good organizational skills, and a positive attitude.

What will you do in this role?
  • You will be working on a team that services a diverse and interesting portfolio of reinsurance claims. Assigned lines of business may include: Motor, Liability, Casualty, Marine, Agriculture, Surety and/or Accident and Health claims
  • Proactively manage claims from notification through closure, providing the level of review required for each claim, depending on the nature and value of the loss
  • Review submitted reinsurance claims against the governing reinsurance treaty and consult with colleagues to determine the nature of loss, applicable coverage, establish appropriate and timely reserves, and identify when payment due
  • Triage your work daily and collaborate with other team members, including colleagues outside the reinsurance claim team to ensure that valid claims are processed and paid accurately and promptly
  • Conduct desktop claim audits as needed
  • Join calls or meetings with cedents and brokers as requested and provide claim insights when appropriate
  • Identify developing trends and anomalies in your book of claims and escalate these to your manager. Share pertinent loss development information with underwriters and actuaries
  • Participate in professional associations and professional development activities to gain expertise, industry information and insights, and to build a network of strategic relationships in the industry to support best in class reinsurance claims handling
  • Interact with colleagues across the organization to support strategic initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in processes and claim management. Escalate suggestions to your manager which could include changes to procedures, additional cost containment strategies, and client or peer education presentations
  • Engage in department wide projects and corporate initiatives from time to time including DEI and ERG programs offered at AXIS

What you need to have: *Strong work ethic and good organizational skills. *Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. *A good understanding of insurance and reinsurance terminology or, a willingness to invest the time to develop the knowledge
  • Effective analytic skills
*Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel *Robust math skills What we prefer you to have:
  • A solid understanding of common insurance and reinsurance products
  • Familiarity with reinsurance contract types and terms and conditions, including business covered, common exclusions, aggregate limits, occurrence limits, treaty limits, retentions, annual aggregate deductibles, clash exposures, and claims made covers
  • Experience in insurance or reinsurance claims handling
  • Presentation skills
  • Industry designations like CPCU, ARe, and AIC a plus
Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be required to:

Be in the office 3 days per week minimum.

Travel to cedents and broker meetings the US on occasion as requested

Participate in the weekly global reinsurance claims team meetings and various team meetings

What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $75,000 to $85,000 USD. Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
