Job Summary

#CA-DC

The position manages and coordinates the activities of administrators, faculty, and staff in the preparation of major grant proposals for collaborative, cross-disciplinary projects involving basic and translational biomedical research, research infrastructure and research training. The appointee will consult with groups of principal investigators to conceptualize and develop new research, research infrastructure and training initiatives. The incumbent will assume the lead responsibility in grant writing and preparation, as well as coordinating the contributions of other participating faculty and staff. The position will report to the Executive Director of the Office of Grant Development and collaborate with Cancer Center leadership, faculty, and staff across UC Davis. Candidates should have extensive experience preparing scientific grant proposals, particularly to the National Cancer Institute and other NIH Institutes as appropriate. Strong scientific writing and editing skills are required, as well as the ability to effectively work in a team environment and manage complex projects.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • PhD or MD in Biology, Molecular Oncology, or related fields and/or equivalent education/training.
  • Four (4) years working with grant submissions and clinical trials in the cell and gene therapy field.
  • Advanced knowledge preparing scientific grant proposals for cell and gene therapy focused federal, state, and private organizations.
  • Advanced level scientific writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Expert knowledge with federal grant application procedures, formats, guidelines, and requirements.
  • Advanced skills and ability to work with large amounts of complex technical information.
  • Advanced skills and ability producing accurate and persuasive text and figures for presentations.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills conceptualizing and developing new research, research infrastructure, and training initiatives.
  • Experience working with relevant computer/software system and applications, including MS Windows/Mac OS, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), web browser applications and e-mail applications.
  • Advanced working knowledge of confidential materials and information.
  • Extensive investigative and organizational skills.
  • Advanced ability to work effectively in a team situation and managing complex projects.
