Summary:

The Engagement Manager is an important part of the Strategic Planning team supporting development of the UNC School of Medicine's (SOM) and UNC Health's strategic goals. The Engagement Manager will work closely with senior executives leading strategic planning engagements that create, enable, or advance execution of complex initiatives across both organizations. The position will also support strategic alliance management, corporate development and provide consultative support to academic programs, departments, and other important areas within the SOM and UNC Health. The Engagement Manager is expected to work independently and within project teams organizing both individual and/or team responsibilities and work assignments to meet engagement goals. The Engagement Manager will partner closely with colleagues within UNC SOM's Administrative Offices and UNC Health's Strategy and Transformation division which includes Strategy Analytics and Corporate Development. This role requires a strong understanding of academic medical centers, the healthcare industry and the ability to analyze data, solve problems, develop presentations, and facilitate collaborative decision making at executive levels. The Engagement Manager will report to an Executive Director, Strategic Planning and will work closely with the Director, Strategic Planning for the UNC SOM.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Analysis & Project Management: Lead 1-3 service line, entity, or corporate development projects or initiatives, ensuring timely and successful delivery. Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to drive growth and innovation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives. Identify and analyze complex business problems. Develop creative solutions and recommendations. Make data-driven decisions to optimize outcomes.

Analytics: Understands data sources and tools. Analyzes sets of data accurately/efficiently. Aid in development of new models/approaches. Identifies takeaways from analytics and can build a data-driven narrative with input from Principal.

Presentation & Facilitation Skills: Complete presentation-ready slides / documents summarizing work or analyses. Capable of presenting own work in front of broader audiences. Collaborates with leadership to deliver presentations to external audiences. Ability to facilitate and manage meetings with leadership involvement.

Client Relationships: Works collaboratively with others, respected by peers. Proactively engages with leaders associated with project work.

Leading People: Leads people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Ensures that departmental goals match those of the organization and that resources are allocated to meet priorities. Establishes an environment that creates incentives for, and eliminates barriers to, a team environment. Articulates common goals and communicates how individual roles contribute to team success.

Leading Change: Proactively assesses the need for change and obtains resources to implement change initiatives. Communicates effectively and appropriately. * Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* None required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* With a Master's degree, the following work experience is required: Five (5) years of relevant experience or two (2) years at a top tier consulting firm with one (1) additional year of relevant experience.
* With a Bachelor's degree, the following work experience is required: Six (6) years of relevant or three (3) years at a top tier consulting firm.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Understanding of academic medical center and healthcare industry trends and regulations.
* Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving.
* Effective written and verbal communication.
* Ability to manage projects efficiently and meet deadlines.
