Summary: This position will be responsible for the global income tax provision including calculating the annual effective tax rate, identifying discrete provision items, analyzing tax reserves, and computing various tax adjustments related to US operations, while utilizing a tax provision tool. This position will also be responsible for tax-related SEC disclosures and management reporting as well as reviewing US income and franchise tax returns.
Responsibilities
Summary: This position will be responsible for the global income tax provision including calculating the annual effective tax rate, identifying discrete provision items, analyzing tax reserves, and computing various tax adjustments related to US operations, while utilizing a tax provision tool. This position will also be responsible for tax-related SEC disclosures and management reporting as well as reviewing US income and franchise tax returns. 1. Prepare monthly global income tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740 including developing the global annual effective tax rate and discrete tax provision items, recording tax provision entries, maintaining tax account roll forwards and validating tax account balances. 2. Coordinate quarterly information requests related to the income tax provision and ensure the data collected is accurate and complete. 3. Develop US current tax provision, including calculation of permanent and temporary tax differences; and stay current on federal, state and local legislation to ensure compliance. 4. Assume responsibility for tax depreciation and tax basis calculations to ensure the substantiation validates deferred tax balances and asset additions/disposal are accurately reported for tax book and personal property taxes; utilize fixed asset tool. 5. Assist with review and timely filing of US income tax returns, and preparation of timely payments. 6. Validate US deferred tax balance and reported global deferred tax balance. 7. Assume responsibility for income tax disclosures for GAAP and non-GAAP financial statements, SEC reporting and management reporting. 8. Manage reporting of tax reserves, including calculation of interest and penalties. 9. Lead efforts to develop tax provision inputs to the annual Long-Range Plan and Budget exercises. 10. Support tax SOX controls, documentation and managing walk-throughs. 11. Manage the Bloomberg provision and workpaper tools, ensuring inputs are complete and accurate and outputs are compliant with ASC 740 reporting requirements; and responsible for vendor relationship. 12. Assist with special projects as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not have supervisory responsibilities. Interaction: The incumbent works closely with entire accounting/finance/tax teams, corporate counsel, business operations, financial auditors, tax authorities and consultants.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA required * JD and/or Master of Taxation degree preferred * Minimum of 7-10 years' professional experience in ASC 740 US GAAP income tax reporting and compliance required * Public accounting firm experience required; multinational pharmaceutical clients preferred * Demonstrated knowledge of developing a global income tax provision required * Experience with income US federal and state income tax compliance required * Demonstrated ability to perform tax research required * Demonstrated usage of accounting software such as OneStream, preferred * Experience required with using and/or implementing an income tax provision tool, such as but not limited to OneSource or Bloomberg Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Advanced Excel skills and proficient in Word and PowerPoint 6. Understands importance of adhering to internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley Act 7. High level of effective oral and written communication skills 8. Ability to build effective and respectful working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external business partners of all levels 9. Ability to identify and drive process improvements to achieve operational efficiency 10. Ability to follow specific, intricate written and oral instructions Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, move between spaces, reach with hands and arms, and stoop. Close vision and the need to focus on computer screen, use of hands, fingers, and wrist to type on keyboard and manipulate mouse.
