What You'll Do

As a Sr. Process Engineer, you will provide capital project and technical solution support to the Initiation Systems (IS), Nitrogen, and Commercial businesses. You will be responsible for supporting career development of the Process Engineering team. Other duties include:

  • Work with Business Units and Stakeholders to develop project scopes, design requirements and business cases.

  • Lead major engineering projects, including emulsion plant design/construction and site upgrades throughout the Dyno Nobel Americas (DNA) business.

  • Safely coordinate, delegate and supervise the project team's completion of all engineering deliverables including scope, full design and drawing package for execution, while remaining on schedule and on budget.

  • Provide engineered designs of chemical and explosives manufacturing facilities.

  • Oversee process engineering deliverables on assigned projects to ensure technical quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Perform capital project management, process design, equipment design, and systems installation in accordance with Dyno Nobel and IPL established engineering and project management standards.

  • Provide technical solutions for equipment, processes and instrumentation for new and existing DNA operations.

  • Produce key engineering deliverables including PFDs and P&IDs.

  • Provide engineering support for DNA operations for compliance with applicable regulatory and DN engineering standards for equipment, process and plant design

  • Develop Process Safety Management (PSM) support capabilities as it relates to chemical process and any related project execution.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, PE preferred - P. Eng designation required if a resident of Canada
  • 10+ years in a relevant industry experience (explosives manufacturing/ mineral processing/mining, industrial chemical manufacturing plants, oil & gas, etc.)
  • Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.
  • Proven track record in detailed process design, drafting specifications, equipment and component selection, and system installation.
  • Experience and capability in the development and interpretation of engineering drawing packages and specifications, including generating PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, C&E spreadsheets, and general arrangement drawings. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  • Working knowledge of pumping, heating and cooling equipment, and process instrumentation/controls.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time during project construction, with regular travel anticipated 25% of the time. Capable of international travel.
