Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose |
The Biomedical Sciences department seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to carry out an
NIH-funded research project on identifying immune features to predict oral cancer malignant transformation using multiplex imaging methods.

Essential Functions |
- Performs experiments in methods related to the research project, such as conduct multiplex immunofluorescence staining on FFPE slides and acquire images using the fluorescence microscope.
- Analyzes experimental data.
- Order necessary supplies.
- Performs other duties as requested by the faculty member.

Minimum Qualifications |
Knowledge of:
- Basic laboratory procedures.
- Expertise in one or several of the following disciplines: Cellular and Molecular Biology,
- Immunology, and/or Pathology.
- Experience with common bioinformatic and biostatistical analysis tools is encouraged.
Ability to:
- Operate laboratory equipment, such as fluorescence microscope.
- Work with biohazardous material.
- Be able to learn and develop new skills such as multiplex immunofluorescence staining, CyTOF, imaging mass cytometry, R coding and Python coding that are required for the studies.
- Be flexible in organizing and prioritizing work.
- Work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with others.
- Communicate effectively and to record and communicate results clearly.
Experience:
- Experience with microscope techniques and histological staining techniques.
Education:
- PhD or equivalent within biomedical research-related field.
Working conditions:
- Position is full-time, eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week.
- Limited travel to outside facilities.
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens or biohazardous materials may reasonably be anticipated.
- Personal protective equipment will be provided to eliminate exposure to routine or limited infectious agents.

Preferred Qualifications |
Experience:
- Experience with immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence staining techniques preferred.
Other:
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Physical Requirements |

Hiring Range |
$26.85 - $34.36 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
