Safety Manager

Kress is looking for a full time Safety Manager to join our team in the development of specialized industrial equipment for steel, construction, and mining industries.

The Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. Provides safety training for employees on policies, regulations, procedures and accident prevention.

Responsibilities -

  • Conducts safety audits and inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments
  • Works with vendors and internal maintenance management to schedule periodic safety inspections and related corrections/repairs
  • Uses safety research to create policies that eliminate workplace hazards
  • Evaluates practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and company compliance to relevant safety regulations
  • Advises the company's administrative team on safety issues and compliance to local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations
  • Reports on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
  • Maintains accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines
  • Maintains compliance records and submits periodic documentation to OSHA and EPA
  • Analyzes incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment
  • Serves as the primary contact for injury and incident notification
  • Documents accidents in the workplace, investigates the circumstances of an illness or injury and handles worker's compensation claims
  • Provides safety technical support to Engineering and Production
  • Monitors the removal of biological, physical or chemical hazards from a workplace



Qualifications -

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in the metal working industry required
  • 2 years management level safety professional experience preferred
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR and OSHA, or the ability to obtain them within 6 months
  • Ability to assess and manage risk
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Ability to create administrative policies and procedures
  • Conceptual planning ability
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership ability
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Communication, meeting, and presentation skills
