Job Summary/Primary Purpose: The Youth Engagement Program Staff will provide support in program areas used in the mentoring of young people who are guests in the Kroc Center, assisting other staff and guests in appropriate use of program spaces and activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide support to youth engagement programming in various program spaces, primarily, but not limited to The Loft, RJ's Adventure Zone, and KidZone.
  • Support the infusion of the 40 Developmental Assets (YADI), educational development and spiritual discovery into youth engagement programming throughout the Kroc Center.
  • Proactively ensure safe and clean program areas for young people and guests.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all general and department safety rules and support their application.
  • Serve as a positive role model for young people in the Kroc Center.
  • Provide support for drop-in activities and special events.
  • Maintain records and compiling statistics as required.
  • Attend all youth engagement team meetings as requested.
  • Schedule varies and will include evening, weekend and holiday hours.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and/or Experience: High School coursework required. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience working with youth ages 6-12 and older preferred.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.



  • Good communication skills including interpersonal skills.
  • English proficiency required; Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team.
  • Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters
  • Strong independent judgement.
  • General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.


Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Blood Borne Pathogen training required within first 60 days of employment. First Aid/CPR preferred. Must successfully complete Safe From Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.

Working Conditions: The work environment is a community center with light to moderate traffic and noise levels. In addition, portions of the primary work facility may be considered humid (natatorium) while other locations (gymnasium) may be considered moderately loud in nature.
