The Physical Therapist works as a New Graduate-Entry-Level therapist and is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating physical therapy treatments as assigned by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. They plan, evaluate, and implement physical therapy programs for patients.

The Physical Therapist provides Physical Therapy services primarily for orthopedic patients in the post-surgical care unit. This position will also implement Physical Therapy services in the outpatient clinic and for other patients as assigned by the Physical Therapy supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload a license and/or certification if required for the position

  • California Licensed Physical Therapist (PHYS THER) - Must possess and maintain a current California Physical Therapy License
  • Must possess and maintain American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification OR UC Davis Health CPR
  • Must possess a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Physical Therapy
  • Basic knowledge in physical therapy as identified by the Physical Therapy Practice Act and licensure by the State of California
  • Must be able to perform all responsibilities of a licensed physical therapist as required and assigned by the supervisory staff of Physical Therapy
  • Ability to exercise good judgment
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with hospital staff in a clear, concise, professional manner
  • Organizational and developmental skills
  • Skills and ability to work in stressful situations
  • Tact and diplomacy skills
  • Ability to provide and accept guidance and criticism
  • Must see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors, relevant device settings, and relevant written information such as the patient's medical record
  • Must hear and speak well enough to communicate with patients and staff throughout the day
  • Must possess the physical strength to assist with patient mobility
  • Must possess sufficient mobility to traverse the distances required to serve patients throughout the institution
  • Must have basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Doctorate in Physical Therapy
  • Demonstrated experience in acute care or an outpatient setting

Key Responsibilities

  • 90% - Provides physical therapy services as assigned through the Outpatient Therapies Department
  • 5% - Miscellaneous assignments as required.
  • 5% - Educational Activities

Work Environment
