In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing next generation optical modules to support 5G Networks. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

We are expanding our capabilities to accelerate our leading-edge optical networking capabilities. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will design, review, and improve a variety of optical equipment, and other advanced optical networking systems and data communications networks.

What You Will Do

* Design, model, and optimize the mechanical structure, specifically for designing fixtures and tooling.
* Perform a variety of engineering tasks such as generate mechanical designs and models, technical documents, reports, and presentations, perform tolerance analysis, generate engineering changes, release drawings for fabrication, evaluate vendors, analyze issues and determine root cause.
* Work with different process teams to optimize and finalize design for full production and to meet all specifications
* Provide assembly or processing procedure technical guidance to engineers and technicians. Provide technical support for vendors and suppliers
* Support process development and production teams
* Perform and/or support tooling and fixture design verification, reliability, and failure analysis to ensure that design meets all specifications and customer requirements

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in tooling and fixture design with proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for creating 3D models, 2D drawings, and assembly drawings, specifically in precision assembly environments.
* Understanding and application of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for mechanical integrity and structural simulations, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) for highly precise and detailed designs for optical elements.
* Familiarity with metrology tools, such as CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines), interferometers, or optical profilometers for quality control.
* Experience with thermal management and vibration control in fixture design for optical systems, ensuring stability and accuracy in assembly.
* Extensive experience working with optical devices, including lenses, sensors, fiber optics, or laser systems, and troubleshooting mechanical issues in optical assemblies.
* Proven expertise in precision machining, assembly fixtures, and tooling for optical components or systems.
* Understanding of materials used in optical systems, including glass, ceramics, silicon, plastics, and composites.
* Familiarity with manufacturing processes like sheet-metal, injection molding, ultra-precision machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing for fixture or tooling fabrication.

What Will Put You Ahead

* Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience with surface finishing and coating processes for components that will interact with optical systems.
* Experience working in cleanroom environments or highly controlled manufacturing processes.
* Knowledge of adhesive bonding techniques, curing methods, and how they apply to optical assemblies.
* Understanding of optical alignment processes.

For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000 - $175,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
