Overview

As our Manager of New Business Development and Sales, you will be responsible for working to maximize revenue and profitability in the markets and business of SmileMakers while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. You will work directly with large existing and prospective SmileMakers customers and Group Purchasing Organizations to increase the revenue and profitability of SmileMakers. While this position is primarily revenue generating, it also provides support and supervises the Inside Sales Team, Account Management Team and Business Development Team, provides leadership in department forecasting and goals, mentors sales representatives, represents SmileMakers at industry events and has oversight of assigned key company initiatives.



Detailed Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions
    Manages and develops a staff of Sales Representatives and Support Reps responsible for achieving sales goals, delivering sales campaigns, managing account relationships, forecasting sales, negotiating contracts and handling the day to day needs of key customers
  1. Develops and implements an annual business plan and corresponding sales and profit budget
  2. Responsible for meeting or exceeding budget on a monthly and annual basis
  3. Manages external vendor(s) to enhance and support telemarketing campaign programs
  4. Gathers and communicates regular and accurate sales forecasts from assigned Sales Representatives - Inside Sales, Account Management and Business Development
  5. Develops and executes a strong competitive position in product, price, promotion and service within SmileMakers
  6. Understands the competition and develops a competitive edge through executing short and long term strategies
  7. Oversees the development, implementation and coordination of year-long customer programs including creation of marketing strategy for target customers
  8. Works with Marketing, Creative and Merchandise to plan and coordinate tradeshows; including, but not limited to, securing booth space, coordinating shipment of signage and products, booth set up, selling at the show, and booth take down
  9. Works with the multiple departments to customize programs and develop product for larger accounts
  10. Develops and maintains knowledge of competition, pricing, strategies, handling of customer needs and problem resolution
  11. Provides key reporting on monthly basis to include but not limited to; National Accounts, Group Purchasing Organizations, Inside Sales Team, Business Development Team, and Account Management Team
  12. Abide by all policies and procedures of SmileMakers and Oriental Trading Company
  13. Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  14. Must be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little advance notice
  15. Work requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractors
Marginal Functions
  1. Prepares yearly sales and marketing plan by analyzing last year's sales results and determining the strategy needed to reach the goals for the upcoming year
  2. Meets with key customers to present and support programs to meet their business needs; includes ordering options, product assortment, and pricing negotiations
  3. Works with Merchandise and Supply Chain to develop product assortments and specialized packaging to meet the customer's specifications
  4. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned or as the situation dictates
  5. Attends and directs tradeshows
  6. Attends company functions, meetings, seminars, etc. which may not impact their own customer base directly but will have a positive impact on the company as whole
  7. Documents sales efforts for current customers, prospects and sales campaigns through standardized forms and reports

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Sales Management, Communications, Marketing, Business, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

  • Five years work experience in Sales or Sales Management preferred (Sales Management preferred)

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully, both internally and externally
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise the work of others
  • Ability to handle customers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, especially Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to initiate negotiations and enforce agreements with vendors
  • Ability to display creativity and business sense to obtain optimum presentation of product line through continued sales efforts
  • Ability to work independently under pressure to meet priority deadlines
  • Ability to perform job duties in a safe manner
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
