The Development & Validation Engineer for High Performance Transmissions, Drivelines & Reducers is responsible for designing, developing, and validating high performance vehicle sub-systems and will work closely with other Propulsion System and Vehicle engineering groups which interacting with these systems, including - but not limited to - transmission, driveline and gear reducer Product Release Center, Controls, Calibration, Thermal Management, Engine & E-Motor engineering organizations. The Development & Validation Engineer is responsible for system level DFMEA development, System Requirements definition, DVPR and Test Management execution to ensure functional objectives and durability goals are met. They will participate in post-test reviews including failure analysis, support assembly plant activities to ensure smooth product launches, lead triage investigations to define root cause of problems occurring in development to insure robustness of function, performance, efficiency and driveability of the product. The engineer will support field warranty and quality investigations, leading the root cause analysis effort as well as contributing to the identification and validation of the optimal solution. Responsibilities:
- Single point technical contact for development & validation of high performance Transmission, Driveline & Reducer systems
- Coordinate the development of both application DFMEA & DVP for relevant vehicle applications, owning the documentation completeness and accuracy
- Coordinate / support trips to facilitate completeness of validation activities (cold, hot, off-road, altitude, etc.)
- Ensure that test results are thoroughly and accurately documented
- Execute certain portions of the DVP, while monitoring execution by others of all remaining portions
- Ensure validation timelines are met at each phase of the program
- Support program reviews as expert for the program's validation status
- Managed vehicle test resources assigned to the select program(s)
- Support relevant warranty problem-solving activities through test plan development & execution
- Support relevant cost reduction and resourcing activities through test plan development & execution
- Support day-to-day problem-solving activities
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical, Aero, Electrical or equivalent Engineering Degree
- 5+ years of engineering experience in Automatic Transmission/Driveline/Electrified Powertrain hardware, calibration or controls development for high performance vehicles
- Must have excellent communication and presentation skills as well as experience with basic PC software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
- Candidate must be highly motivated, self-directed, have the ability to manage multiple complex projects, and have a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering and/or have experience in transmission and/or driveline design, development, and testing
- Specific experience with software, calibration, efficiency and/or thermal management is desired
- An understanding of transmission & driveline operation and the interaction between gears, clutches, and electrohydraulic components is desired
- Experience with transmission & driveline testing procedures, in vehicle or on dynamometer, and other related considerations are also highly valued
