JOB MISSION:

New Balance's New Product Engineer is responsible for designing tooling and processes to support new product introduction to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and creative problem-solving to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and innovation.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop processes, tooling, and equipment to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals
  • Design and order or fabricate tooling to meet project schedule requirements
  • Become Expert in tooling design for operations such as RF weld, pad printing, and branding
  • Work with new product engineering team to make improvements to equipment, tooling, and processes to meet new product goals
  • Develop or qualify equipment as required to support new product
  • Works collaboratively with both team members and teams across the organization to develop and qualify new equipment
  • Act as a first line of defense in troubleshooting equipment and process issues. Routine data collection and effective communication of status and solutions.
  • Conduct trials, detailed experimental testing and analyze results to ensure new processes meet performance and quality standards.
  • Provide recommendations of process improvements based on engineering test results and experience.
  • Assists the New Product Engineering Team on documentation, reports and miscellaneous support tasks.
  • Throughout project implementation process, ensures training of manufacturing staff is completed properly, that proper documentation is provided and troubleshoots issues as they arise until the process is running smoothly.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Successful launch of new footwear products that meet or exceed performance and quality standards while meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
  • Successful launch of operations requiring new tooling
  • Achievement of project milestones within established timelines and budgets.
  • Continuous improvement in processes

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • Reports directly to New Product Engineering Manager

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience. Shoe manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience in new product introduction and continuous process improvements
  • Strong action orientation to achieve deadlines and business results
  • Ability to Travel between all Domestic NB Facilities
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
  • Experience with 2D and/or 3D CAD desired (Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc)
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels and function.
  • Software competencies required: 3D CAD software, Microsoft Office
