Role Summary

The Future Programs team exists to expand the definition of Electric Adventure Vehicle with new products and ecosystem solutions. We are specifically focused on addressing local transportation and the outsized impact towards Keeping the World Adventurous Forever that comes with disrupting short, high emission trips.


Responsibilities

  • Be the technically responsible individual for the development of human machine interface components and features that are central to the user experience of operating future Rivian vehicle products. Examples include touchscreen displays, moving mechanisms, and other assemblies a user would interact with to control a vehicle.

  • Directly responsible for end-to-end success of the features from early R&D though production launch

  • Perform hands-on prototyping using 3D printing and CNC to test and iterate quickly on concepts.

  • Coordinate industrial design and engineering design activities spanning mechanical, electrical, controls, tactile performance, user experience, and durability.

  • Manage outside engineering services; contract manufacturing organizations to develop designs to achieve high-quality customer facing attributes as well as high volume/low-cost manufacturability.

  • Define, execute and supervise design verification test plans and reporting with a mix of internal and external resources.

  • Support production ramp and field problem resolution


Qualifications

  • 5+ year track record of in-depth electromechanical product development with a focus on design of mechanical / electrical assemblies for user experience and high-volume manufacturing.

  • Demonstrated experience launching multiple complex electro-mechanical assemblies into mass production.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals in mechanics, materials, precision mechanisms, sensor integration, wire harness, connector design, touchscreen displays and display technologies.

  • Passion for connecting the dots between amazing tactile user experience and the key underlying mechanical, electrical and software technical nuances.

  • Deep expertise in 3D CAD modeling, drafting, GD&T and utilizing PLM systems for doc and release control.


Pay Disclosure

$180,000 - $220,000
