The selected candidate will become part of a group responsible for supporting steam plant fluid systems and engineered safety feature (ESF) systems on S6G Moored Training Ship (MTS). The candidate will also support steam plant fluid systems on OHIO, SEAWOLF, and VIRGINIA Class commissioned submarines, and the S8G Prototype. This role offers a diverse range of work with varying durations, providing increased responsibilities and independence based on ability and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

    Engage in system and/or component design, ship alteration upgrades, and life cycle support.
  • Function as a project engineer overseeing all aspects of engineering tasks, ensuring overall technical quality.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, maintaining schedules, being mindful of budgets, and collaborating with Design and other engineering organizations and disciplines.
  • Evaluate and provide technical resolution to system and component related questions and problems from Naval Shipyards, Navy forces afloat, land-based prototypes, prime contractors and NAVSEA engineering and program offices.
  • Effectively communicate within the organization and with NAVSEA, prime contractors, Navy shipyards and equipment vendors.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years of US Navy submarine experience as a qualified nuclear plant operator.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Engineering Watch Supervisor qualified.

Preferred:

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or higher.
  • Experience working in a private or Naval shipyard.
  • Experience as a Nuclear Mechanical Division Leading Chief Petty Officer.
  • Experience as a Submarine Engineering Department Master Chief.
  • Experience as an instructor at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command or at a Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit
  • Squadron Engineering experience.
