The Admissions Evaluator (AE) plays a vital role in the admissions process by accurately and efficiently evaluating undergraduate applicants for all University of Arizona campuses and programs. This position involves making informed admissions decisions based on the evaluation and review of applications, ensuring compliance with Arizona Board of Regents and UA admission standards. AEs exercise critical thinking and professional judgment to determine applicant eligibility.

Aligned with the mission of the Undergraduate Admissions Processing Unit-to receive, process, evaluate, and decision applications as efficiently and accurately as possible in the best interest of potential UA students and the university-AEs collaborate within the Admissions Processing Unit to provide exceptional service and support UA's objectives. Specializing in specific student populations or projects, AEs demonstrate self-motivation and take on a high level of responsibility in their work.

This role is eligible for Flexible Work Arrangements, including primarily remote work within Arizona. Team members are expected to attend approximately eight in-person staff meetings and two to three additional in-person events each year. Otherwise, most team members have the privilege of working remotely to achieve their tasks and goals.

Duties & Responsibilities

Evaluation: Admissions Evaluators (AEs) handles sensitive student data and are responsible for managing a high volume of applications. Thoroughly reviewing all submitted applicant materials and calculating coursework to assess admissibility requirements. AEs interpret and adhere to established business process guides to complete evaluations accurately. The evaluation process may be subject to review for accuracy, and fully trained AEs are expected to meet efficiency standards while maintaining a 95% accuracy rate in their assessments.

AEs collaborate closely within the Admissions Processing Unit to achieve departmental goals and contribute to the overall success of Enrollment Management.Comprehensive Review: AEs have the authority to make admissions decisions through UA's comprehensive review process.

While the team adheres to standard guidelines, each applicant is reviewed uniquely and individually. Therefore, AEs must interpret operating policies and exercise discretion and professional judgment to reach informed admissions decisions. Admissions "TAPs" tickets: AEs with assistance from the admissions processing unit investigate requests and issues submitted via the "TAPs" ticketing system.

They are expected to be knowledgeable in their assigned categories, providing excellent customer service while addressing issues, concerns, and questions, ultimately resolving matters effectively.Specialty Population/Project: AEs represent Admissions and the University of Arizona by processing specific populations, including Re-Admits, NewStart, selective majors, and high school non-degree seeking students.

They specialize in either domestic or international populations and manage the processing of students across all UA campuses, including Main Campus, Arizona Online, Distance, and Global Campus.

Additionally, they contribute to achieving objectives by running queries and reports to maintain the integrity of data and systems. Training/coaching, updating documentation and email communications: They attend ongoing training to enhance their expertise and review policies to determine when it is appropriate to exercise flexibility, utilizing professional judgment.

AEs maintain up-to-date documentation and provide input on policies and procedures to ensure consistent understanding across the team.
