Job Description:

Overview:

Manager of Accounting is responsible for managing the monthly accounting close, account reconciliations, account analysis, preparation and review of various deliverables, and completing quarterly compliance. This role will require familiarity with a variety of accounting concepts, practices and procedures for accuracy of the accounting records. This role will have focused attention to develop team members through training and coaching to help individuals accomplish assigned tasks and meet their career goals and objectives. An immediate focus for this role is to functionalize the routine work, optimize processes, and ensure processes and controls are operating effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong attributes for accuracy, be highly detailed oriented, have a high competency in accounting principles and be people oriented.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and oversee the daily operations of the accounting

  • Provide planning & management oversight for the monthly close process including the review of journal entries, month and year to date variance analysis, and internal management reports and account reconciliations

  • Monitoring and analyzing the accounting data for preparation of financial reports and statements

  • Serve as the owner for key financial statement close processes and ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory and legal compliance

  • Work with the Technical Accounting team to ensure proper accounting treatment has been determine and applied

  • Partner with the development teams to evaluate, onboard, and record new project

  • Assist tax department with various data requests for partnership returns

  • Manage 3rd-party advisors for Sales and Use Tax compliance

  • As required, work with partners, lenders, external auditors, vendors and consultants

  • Managing a team of professionals to perform and review results of management reporting, variance analysis and projection updates.

  • Establish an organizational design that optimizes efficiency and creates clear accountability for key work functions to designated employees.

  • Cultivate an effective environment through open and effective communications, mutual trust and respect, professionalism, embracing diversity & inclusion, a commitment to excellence, personal accountability, integrity, flexibility and an encouraging positive attitude.

  • Complete ad hoc requests for internal and external parties or special projects, as assigned

Required/Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with major in accounting, finance or other closely related discipline

  • Eight (8) years or more of related work experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • Advanced degree in accounting, finance or other closely related discipline

  • Experience with managing a team of 5 or more professionals

  • Experience with renewables industry including tax equity transactions

  • Strong technical skills and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP

  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to manage multiple projects running concurrently

  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and be flexible with assignment changes as needed

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Public accounting experience (Big Four / large regional)

  • Experience with company consolidation and limited liability company / partnership accounting

  • Experience and confidence interacting with senior management, parent company management, external auditors and external parties

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a subject matter expert, recommending best practices based on expertise and institutional knowledge, communicating complex concepts to management, and

  • Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Power Point and PowerBI
