Who we are and what we do:

The mission of the Department of Financial Institutions is to provide the citizens of Tennessee with a sound system of state-chartered financial institutions by providing for and encouraging the development of depository financial institutions while restricting their activities to the extent necessary to safeguard the interests of depositors; and seeking to ensure compliance by both depository and non-depository financial institutions with governing laws and regulations.

The Department is further committed to the provision of quality constituent services to the institutions it examines, supervises and regulates; the citizens of the State of Tennessee; members of the Tennessee General Assembly and of Congress; the Office of Governor and other agencies of the state and federal governments; other state and federal financial institutions' regulatory agencies and to the provision of quality management of its personnel and fiscal resources.

Job Overview:

This position will support the Financial Institutions Assistant Chief Financial Officer and the Assistant Commissioner/ COO of Fiscal & Administration while serving as liaison to several departments and monitor service provided under partnership agreements.

This position performs budget work of greater difficulty and may supervise a group of analysts. They are strong in accounting, budget processes, budget authority, and process timelines. The coordinator serves as a subject matter expert on numerous areas. They also may serve as a mentor and a teacher to their direct reports and other staff in budget processes, analyses, and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

This position will function as an Accountant and Fiscal Operations Analyst. They will be responsible for overseeing and performing accounting, budget, procurement and inventory activates with occasional special project coordination. This position will continually monitor and evaluate the department's IT and data security needs, in coordination with our STS partners. This position will prepare and submit documents in the State Budget System by the required deadlines.

Previous state government experience is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting and/or other related fields required.
  • Valid motor vehicle license required.
