POSITION TITLE: Clinical Scholar - K12 Mentored Research Career Development Program

POSITION SUMMARY:

Scripps' CTSA award supports mentored research in a career development postdoctoral program designed for young investigators to gain clinical and translational research experience as members of Scripps Research Translational Institute.

The K Scholars Program, directed by Dr. Laura Nicholson, is designed to provide early-career postdoctoral (MD, PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) candidates with a novel career development experience in a precision medicine-focused institute at the forefront of genomics, digital medicine, machine learning, and community-engaged research. We are funded by an NIH Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) K12 Mentored Research Career Development Award.

• Targeted mentorship for the transdisciplinary research skills required for successful translational research careers

• Commitment to increasing diversity in research studies and the research workforce
• Protected 75% of time for scholarly work and research training
• $15,500 annually for research-related expenses
• Minimum two-year appointments
• Translational science coursework among topics in trial design, grant preparation, biostatistics, human genomics, computational biology, and social science implications of research

COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $92,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
