Description

Location: Parma Health Education Center

Hours of operation: teaching 2 classes (onsite) and an admin day (remote) in a 2 week period; 32 hours in pay period

What You Will Do



  • Oversee the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) programs.
  • Manages emergency cardiac education (BLS and PALS) in accordance with the American Heart Association's (AHA) guidelines.
  • Completes all required AHA reports and documentation.
  • Responsible for Training Site reviews and ongoing course and instructor monitoring.
  • Maintains departmental Quality Assurance Program.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of courses, registration of course participants and instructors, coordination of room reservations, AV needs, rosters, evaluations, cards, and summaries.
  • Orders supplies as necessary for AHA classes
  • Monitor instructors (BLS & PALS) per AHA guidelines
  • Ensures instructors are current with info from AHA, including science updates, training memos, bulletins, and the ECC Beat
  • Uses the learning management system to track class registration and completion.
  • Monitors and assures that all courses taught follow AHA guidelines and department policies and procedures.
  • Coaches and counsels secondary instructors when necessary.
  • Collaborates with ACLS and PALS Program Coordinators to ensure quality courses that follow AHA guidelines and department policies and procedures.
  • Serve as principal resource for information, support, and quality control for all AHA instructors within the designated training center.
  • Attends trainings as requested/required by AHA.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning concepts and ability to teach and evaluate program effectiveness using those concepts.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
