RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is for Assistant General Counsel, Legal & Compliance, overseeing the company's World Ethics Compliance Program. The Assistant General Counsel will work in close cooperation with the VP, Assistant General Counsel & Head of Compliance to identify, analyze, and manage the company's exposure to legal and regulatory risks, in particular as they relate to economic and trade sanctions, data privacy, anti-corruption, cyber security, and antitrust / competition. The candidate will
- Maintain and develop the global compliance program, including through policies and procedures, and conduct global trainings.
- Oversee the company's sanctions and trade controls compliance program.
- Manage the company's compliance with global data privacy regulations, including responding to data breaches and data subject access requests.
- Oversee a team of senior managers and analysts to conduct third-party due diligence.
- Oversee the company's compliance hotline and conduct internal investigations, working with outside counsel and other stakeholders as necessary.
- Assist with the compliance aspects of acquisitions, joint ventures, and other types of financial transactions.
- Work with IT and information security to develop and manage information security and cyber incident protocols and to respond to cyber incidents.
- Act as a contact with government regulators and enforcement authorities and liaise with external and internal counsel on inquiries and investigations.
- Provide briefings and analysis to senior management.
PERSON SPECIFICATION (BACKGROUND AND SKILLS):
- JD and admission to a U.S. State Bar.
- 10+ years of experience at a law firm, in-house compliance department, or government agency.
- Extensive experience overseeing, managing, and building a global compliance program.
- Experience managing a team.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to devise, lead and deliver change in a large organization.
- Ability to collaborate with other functions across the business.
- Relationship management skills to deal with senior management and build partnerships with other functional departments.
- A strong network of and experience of working with industry groups.
- Ability to effectively prioritize conflicting demands and make sound judgements based on available information.
