Posting Summary
The Library and Information Science ( LIS) Department in the School of Communication and Information (SC&I) at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, invites applications for two full time non-tenure-track positions, both of whom will teach in our thriving undergraduate program in Information Technology and Informatics (IT&I).
One position focuses on Applied IT and Cybersecurity, supporting courses on topics including:
* Networks, servers, databases, and cloud computing,
* Applied HCI and interactive systems design,
* Data protection, information assurance, and cybersecurity
One position focuses on Information Visualization, supporting courses on topics including:
* Information visualization, with an emphasis on visualization concepts and their application with the Tableau software suite
* Data engineering fundamentals with Python and relevant libraries (e.g., numpy, pandas, airflow/prefect, etc.)
The successful candidates will be appointed at a rank appropriate to their educational and work experience within the non-tenure-track teaching faculty title series at Rutgers. These positions are renewable.
The Department of Library and Information Science is a charter member of the iSchools organization, has a dynamic culture for teaching and research, is global and local in reach and impact, and is in an exciting period of growth. We seek candidates whose work complements our faculty's strengths, who can deliver excellent instruction and mentoring for students, and who will participate as full members of the Department of Library and Information Science, including participating in service activities.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is strongly preferred; a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field would be welcome.

IT industry certifications or other non-degree technical training would also be a plus.

Professional and technical experience: Evidence of strong subject matter expertise in the focal areas above should be provided, including detailed descriptions of responsibilities in professional positions held.
Teaching experience: Applicants must provide evidence of their effective teaching experience. Experience teaching undergraduate students is preferred, but individuals with other types of teaching and training experience will be considered.
