This full-time role is based at the SRHD main campus, with travel throughout Spokane County. You'll work a dedicated Monday-Friday dayshift schedule. Compensation for this position starts at $32.66 per hour for an EHS-I and $35.35 per hour for an EHS-II.
Please note: The selected candidate will be classified as either an EHS-I or EHS-II based on qualifications.

This is an entry level position requiring very little or no previous experience in Environmental Public Health. Supervision is generally close and detailed. The primary duty is to safeguard public health by obtaining compliance with applicable local and state regulations, policies, and procedures through education, cooperation, and enforcement, when necessary, by performing the following duties.
Some Essential Functions Include:
- Conducts routine and follow-up inspections of retail food service establishments to determine compliance with applicable local and state regulations and procedures.
- Informs/educates appropriate food service operators of compliance needs.
- Initiates legal action as necessary after consultation with the program's technical advisor and/or program manager (e.g., permit suspension, etc.). Processes and approves permit applications for establishments located within an assigned area.
- Conducts plan review and pre-opening (pre-occupancy) inspection activities pertaining to new construction or remodeling of permitted/regulated establishments. Works with architects, contractors, and operators regarding applicable requirements.
