The Department of Human Services (DHS), Norristown State Hospital is seeking a Podiatrist. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Podiatrist, you will examine, diagnose and treat foot ailments and deformities for patients residing at Norristown State Hospital. You will confer with medical and professional staff in the treatment of systemic disorders, consult with staff regarding patients referred for foot surgery, and recommend diagnostic procedures, medications, and physical therapy. You will also prescribe corrective footwear, make or order shoe inserts, and conduct training with patients and staff regarding foot care.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. May change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from an approved school of podiatry.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a current license to practice podiatry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Podiatry.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
