Are you a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer looking to be on the cutting edge of the Autonomy aircraft industry? If so, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join our team here at Kaman Air Vehicles in Bloomfield, CT.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Design, develop, repair, and perform analysis of Kaman Air Vehicle products and/or components.
  • Preparation of drawings; cost estimates, design concepts that include repair and evaluation of material discrepancies relative to the final design concept.
  • Develop detailed information for the definition and procurement of the required components.
  • Prepare design layouts, assist in analyses, and interpret engineering concept layout of developed devices.
  • Examine product designs for application, material research and typical design considerations.
  • Work in a fast-paced, team environment to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Generate engineering memos and slides, which include documenting all work, presenting findings to management, and making recommendations.
  • Provide support necessary to direct technical personnel in the building, inspection and testing of subassemblies and the completed product.
  • Make technical recommendations based on engineering judgment and interpretation of analysis and test results: don't just identify potential problems; recommend design solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and take ownership for implementation.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and customers for data exchange, status discussion, and resolution of engineering issues and activities.
  • Participate in engineering and management reviews, working groups and related activities and completion of action items assigned.
  • Liaison with external groups and organizations to accomplish assigned tasks.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, master's degree preferred.
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in an applicable field, aerospace preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of an advanced or technically specialized field with capabilities in aircraft mechanical systems.
  • Strong desire to learn and improve.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Like to work in a fast paced, creative environment.
